Hi Everyone,As many of us know, public schools, especially in low-income communities, often face significant challenges in acquiring the resources they need. This is especially true when it comes to supporting non-speaking students who require additional assistance to communicate effectively. My wife Kara J. is organizing a fundraiser for her students at Marshall Middle School in Lynn, MA. The goal is to provide iPads, protective cases, and TouchChat with WordPower Software to the classroom support staff who work with non-speaking students. These tools will allow staff to model and facilitate communication using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems throughout the school day, not just during therapy sessions.By equipping support staff with these resources, they can ensure that non-speaking students have access to AAC modeling across the entire school environment, helping them express their wants, needs, and ideas. This initiative will enhance their ability to engage meaningfully with both their peers and teachers, improving their overall quality of life.Your support would provide these students with the tools they need to unlock their voices, empowering them to communicate in school, at home, and beyond. Please consider contributing to this important cause by following the link below: https://lnkd.in/eAesba49Thank you all for helping support this great cause!

Community schools seamlessly blend evidence-based academic support with the broader community network and thus merit a dedicated, reliable funding stream. So the question is not whether we can afford to maintain and grow our commitment to community schools. Rather, can we afford not to? How to apply for grants We know that teachers and teaching assistants are busy people, committed to delivering quality education and increasingly extracurricular enrichment activities. While some extra cash might help to make these extracurricular projects easier to run and manage, finding the time to apply for grants is often down at the bottom of your ever-growing to do list. But Class People Foundation have made it quick and easy to apply for a grant to support your extracurricular events, whether you are raising money for library books or football shirts for your school team. Get the information together before you startYou will know your school’s name and address but what about the most relevant email address to apply with, for example? By ensuring you have all this information gathered together before you apply, it will streamline the process and take up less of your valuable time. Be as specific as possibleRather than asking for money to support your library, try asking for money to buy 100 books for Key Stage 2 readers, for example. It is much more impactful, and you are much more likely to be successful by having an accurate and targeted plan. It also forces you to think about what you actually need and work towards it rather than having a vague idea and no way to carry it out. Keep a digital copy of your applicationWe all think we will remember exactly what we typed into a form but having a Word document with the information in makes applying for other grants quicker and gives you a really good starting point for tailoring your application. Each grant process will have a slightly different way of doing things, but a lot of the questions will be similar. When you’re time- poor, little tips and tricks like this can make your life much easier!Find out more about the Class People Foundation and apply for a grant. https://lnkd.in/eVDwfsVi

Empowering Futures, One Student at a TimeAt Exceltop School Support, we believe in the power of education to transform lives. As a teacher at Community Primary School, Morekete, I have seen firsthand the challenges many students face, students with immense potential held back by a lack of resources, guidance, and opportunity. This realization is what inspired me to create Exceltop School Support. 📎Our mission is simple yet profound: to bridge the gap between education and opportunity. We provide school uniforms, essential school items, to students who need it most. By doing so, we not only support their academic journey but also equip them with the skills needed for a successful future. Why We Do What We Do📎In many communities, children go to school without the basic necessities. They lack proper uniforms, school supplies, and sometimes even the confidence to participate fully in their education. At Exceltop, we see these challenges not as barriers but as opportunities to make a difference.📎Last Session through partnership with organizations and individuals, we provided 16 school uniforms, notebooks to more than 80 students, whiteboards and other writing materials to students at my school. We couldn't have made this a reality if not for your support. We really appreciate 🙏 📎This Academic Session, we propose to buy notebooks and writing materials to 120 Scholars at Community Primary School and it's neighborhood schools📎.We cannot do this alone , Join Us in Making a DifferenceExceltop School Support is more than an initiative—it’s a community effort. We are inviting you to be a part of our story. Whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, your support can help us reach more students providing them with the tools they need to succeed.Let’s empower the next generation, together. If you are passionate about education and skills development, connect with us! We are open to partnerships, collaborations, and support from individuals and organizations who share our vision. Let’s empower the workforce of tomorrow, today.Islamiyat Bello Fellow at Teach For NigeriaOlalekan Oladele

For a better nation, support education!

It was in the news recently that Ross Stevens is withdrawing a gift worth $100 million to protest the University of Pennsylvania's response to antisemitism on campus. There are two things I applaud here, and also something that bothers me. First, I applaud standing up against antisemitism, and second I applaud any support of education, especially by those who put their money where their mouth is, so kudos to Mr. Stevens. The thing that bothers me is the amount of support in so many forms, and in such large amounts for the bastions of higher education, while the foundation of education, K-12, is failing so badly. It has been pointed out that in 100 years we have gone from teaching Latin in high school to teaching remedial English in college.Somewhere between 40 to 60 percent of first-year college students now require remedial courses in math, English, or both.129 colleges and university systems have endowments over $1 billion, with Harvard leading the pack at over $49 billion! These schools already charge their students enough that it takes many of them over 20 years to repay student loans, so I wonder what the justification is for sitting on such large amounts of money? And, why do donors continue to shower them with more?I know some of the answer - a desire to do good, support education (a wonderful cause), and in some cases, for the recognition and legacy that such gifts provide. There exists an opportunity to accomplish all of this, while having an impact that would rival, if not surpass that of the great Andrew Carnegie. One gift the size of Mr. Stevens' would ensure the completion of the mission of the Foundation for the Next Generation - to completely reengineer K-12 education and make that education freely available online in formats for homeschoolers as well as brick-and-mortar environments. This would be an education based on what has proven to be successful in the past combined with the latest knowledge and research, and implemented with the latest technology. This would be an education geared to bringing out the best in the individual by helping them to discover their own talents, interests and abilities while allowing them to progress at their own pace. And, this would be an education designed to produce graduates ready to enter the real world of the 21st century, with real-world knowledge and capability. We would gladly rename the whole foundation for a donor or corporation that pledged $100 million over ten years, and you would be giving millions and millions of children the chance at a real education and all that means to their future and to our society. You just don't get the chance to have that kind of impact anywhere else!To learn more, go to forbettereducation.org or go here to easily make a smaller donation to help us get the word outhttps://lnkd.in/gxpd5wYh The world needs this, our children need this, and the benefits will be amazing!
